Lauds: Sunday, wk 2

Psalm 100  (Invitation to Praise)

Sing joyfully to God, all the earth.
Serve the Most High with gladness.
Come with joy into the presence of God.

Know that the Most High is our God,
our Creator, to whom we belong;
we, the flock God leads as a shepherd.

Enter the gates with thanksgiving,
the courts of the Holy One with praise.
Give thanks and bless the name of God.

Indeed, how good is our God,
whose merciful love is unfailing,
whose faithfulness continues forever!

Psalm 118  (Processional song of praise)

Give thanks to God who is so good,
whose love is everlasting!

Let the house of Israel say:
“God’s love is everlasting.”
Let the house of Aaron say:
“God’s love is everlasting.”

All who fear the Holy One say:
“God’s love is everlasting.”
When I called out in my distress,
God answered and set me free.

With God at my side, I have no fear.
What can anyone do against me?
With God, a mighty warrior on my side,
I will triumph over my foes.

It is better to rely on God,
than to depend on human beings.
It is better to rely on God,
than to trust the powerful on earth.

All the nations were surrounding me;
in the name of God I repelled them.
They hemmed me in on every side;
in the name of God I repelled them.

They swarmed around me like bees,
burning like fire among thorns.
In the name of God I repelled them.

I was pushed hard and about to fall,
but the Most High came to my help.
God is my strength and my song,
and has become my savior.

The sounds of joy and salvation
echo in the tents of the just.

God’s right hand brought the victory;
the right hand of God is exalted.
The right hand of God is triumphant.

I shall not die, but live,
and proclaim the works of God.
Although severely punished,
I was not abandoned to death.

Open the gates of victory,
that I may enter with thanksgiving.
This is the portal of the Holy One,
the just may enter here.

I thank you for you have answered me;
you have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.

This is the work of the Almighty,
a wonder before our eyes.
This is the day of God’s triumph,
we rejoice and are glad!

Save us, O God, we pray,
and give us success.
Blessed are those who come in your name.
We bless you from the house of God.

The Holy One is our God,
who has given us light.
Form a procession with branches
up to the horns of the altar.

You are my God, I thank you.
My God, I extol you.
I thank you for your goodness;
your love is everlasting.

O.T. Canticle, based on Daniel 3:52-56

Blessed are you, O God of our ancestors,
praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.
Blessed is your holy and glorious name,
praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.

Blessed are you in the temple of your glory,
praiseworthy and glorious above all forever.
Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom,
praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.

Blessed are you who look into the depths,
from your throne upon the cherubim.
Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven,
praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.

Psalm 150  (Final summons to praise)

Praise God in the sanctuary,
and in the vast expanse of heaven.
Praise God’s surpassing greatness,
immensity, grandeur and might.

Praise God with the sound of trumpet,
sing praise with harp and lyre.
With tambourines and dancing,
praise God with strings and pipes.

Praise God with resounding cymbals,
sing praise with clashing of cymbals.
Let everything that has breath,
sing praise to God! (Alleluia)
